Kurier: How unhealthy is shift work?

23.10.2024

"People who work shifts consume more calories - often from fatty and sweet snacks. A European project is being coordinated from Vienna to find counter-strategies".

The Kurier interviewed Prof. Karl-Heinz Wagner about the various effects that shift work can have on the human body. These negative effects, such as a disturbed hormone balance, can promote cravings and thus obesity and overweight in the long term. The study aims to better understand these effects and find solutions to improve the health of shiftworkers. Find the article here.

Anyone who works in the healthcare sector - either exclusively during the day or regularly (at least four times a month during the night) - can participate in the study. The collected parameters relate to lifestyle characteristics, body composition and laboratory data for day and night workers.

If you fit the description above and are interested in joining the study, fill out the form and/or register for the cross-sectional study in your country. You find both options on our webpage.
