7th of April 2025 is World Health Day

07.04.2025

7 April 2025 marks this year’s World Health Day, celebrated under the theme “Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures.” The focus in 2025 is on improving maternal and newborn health – a call to action for health systems, governments, and society to do more in preventing avoidable deaths and supporting women’s long-term well-being.

According to the WHO each year, nearly 300,000 women die due to pregnancy or childbirth, and over 4 million babies die before or shortly after birth. That’s one preventable death every 7 seconds.

The campaign calls for stronger efforts to:

  • End preventable maternal and newborn deaths
  • Support women’s health beyond childbirth
  • Provide high-quality physical and emotional care for families

While Shift2Health focuses on adult health, lifelong well-being often starts before birth. We support WHO’s call for early and sustained health investment.
